HI..Does anyone know if a christian, and a hindu person get married, and if they register thier marriage under The HIndu Marriage Act 1955..will thier marriage be valid for thier in India.??..
A Hindu and Christan can get married but they cannot get it registered under The Hidu Marriage act 1955. They have to get it registered under Special Marriage act.
Monk
Monk is right. I am a Christian married to a Hindu and our marriage was registered under Special Marriage Act.
In any case marriage will be valid.
Act is relevant only for registration purposes.
I just appled under the Special Marriage Act. When talking to the guy, I got the impression that if one of the parties was a Hindu, one could register under the Hindu marraige act.
In any case, the only difference I see is the waiting time to get the certificate. Hindu marriage takes only 1 week whereas Special Marriage takes one month - here in Karnataka.
Anywhere in India it will take 30 days for registration under Special marriage act.
Hi ..Has anyone here in this forum heard of The Bombay Registrations of Marriage Act 1953(1954)..That is a act that is going in Gujarat state..Has anyone gotten thier marriage registered under that act .Thanks so very much for any response's ...
