So I have an interview yesterday.

I noticed in all the interviews that they probe you on your personality.
More so than in any other place I have been. And regardless of the nature of Job.

Anyways, All of you give your best shot at some of these questions...i.e. spin the best yarn you can, without going into specifics.

1) How do you interact with different groups of people?
E.g. client, Consultants or full time people, people from other departments.

2) What did you do when company policies conflicted with say your expectations or if client had requests which clearly was against company policies?

3) What did you do to motivate yourself at work?

4) Describe one thing that you did that changed how work (or process) was done for the better?

5) If you made a mistake at work, how did you make up for it?

there are others I will put in when I can think of them or if you have any questions related to Personality or behaviour put them in.

Thats what I am expecting you all to do.

I fall woefully short on these type of questions. My initial reaction on the inside is WT?...how does that relate to the Job?

Mercury,
Its been some time since my last interview but the way I always answr such questions is by giving examples from my previous jobs..

e.g:

1) How do you interact with different groups of people?
E.g. client, Consultants or full time people, people from other departments.

MY ans: I am at ease interacting with people. On a professional level I enjoy interacting with internal and external customers which has always helped me identify and address the needs of the same. This has helped me enormously in my personal and professional growth. For example when I was working with......blah, blah blah.

2) What did you do when company policies conflicted with say your expectations or if client had requests which clearly was against company policies?
MY Ans: I deal with this situations on a case by case basis as they have a lot of variables involved to hold just one solution. The closest I have come to such a situation is when the customer was asking for information on certain sw bugs and their status. I was not at liberty to discuss the details according to company policy. At this time I had to fall back on my people sklills to assure the client that we wre looking ingto the issue and also promise to contact him as soon as the issue was fixed.

**note: I am again giving examples***

In short, I always give exmaples of how I dealt with the situations in past jobs and draw focus to my contribution and attitude in solving the issues.

Hope this helps. Sorry I cannot be more definite but "I deal with this situations on a case by case basis as they have a lot of variables involved to hold just one solution"
:)

p.s: *for me* it really help that I *believe* that I AM the individual that I am selling. No yarns.

What will you do to motivate co-worker who is slow at work?

My reply was, I would try to appreciate his efforts and help him to complete work to meet deadlines.
