Dear Moderator,
I keep editing the earlier article so it remains on top and it
attracts the attention of the 11992 members.

BECAUSE I SINCERELY DO NOT WANT ANYONE ELSE TO UNDERGO THE

MISERY AND SUFFERING I AM UNDERGOING RIGHT NOW.

I can understand and appreciate it. However a lot of people may feel that way about topics they write. If everybody uses this mechanism to push up threads, then the sequencing loses meaning.

It is really surprising that after such a long time, Alitalia is failing to act on this matter. And I wish you the best in getting your issue resolved. Do post updates, but don't push it up artificially.

Didnt want to start a separate thread. So here is what happened to me with KLM.

Went to India in 2003. No problems whatsoever going and coming back to toronto. Flight on time, good service etc...

I had taken a not so cheap ticket with a restriction of travelling back in a few months time.

While going I had one large Suitcase and one carry on. While coming back i added another large suitcase. A little overweight. I was charged for excess for the extra piece and not for the few extra KGs I had. The amount approx $200 CDN,

When i protested They showed me its written on the ticket that I am limited to 1 piece checked in. there is a small code ont he right side which apparently said so. when i came back I asked the agent and he said it was true.

First time I had such an experience with excess baggage/weight.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

What?? I thought ALL flights into and out of North America allow for two pieces of checked in baggage provided they are within some specified size limits and weight is not a factor.

hey, i just posted my experience with Air canada under another topic and then found this discussion. I feel sorry that you have not received ur baggage even after 2 months. That worries me a lot too.
Bcos I am now running behind Air canada to get my mother's luggage.
Atleast they agreed for 100 USD to buy clothes and toileteries.
My mother did not receive both her luggages first and then 4 days later she got one. It is now more than a week and World baggage tracer is still trying to trace down the other luggage.

Luggage getting lost on a flight journey is beyong our control.
I would suggest the following...
There is nothing we can do about luggage being lost., but, we can take a precautionary measure like in my case, when I travelled to china my company got me a travel insurance. This insurance having a onetime down payment of around 2000 rupees (~50$) covers you for baggage loss and medical expenses for a specific period. This is most suitable for short business or tourist trips (1~3 months).
In India, TATA AIG, Cholamandalam finances etc provide such insurance services. It comes out as a package if we ask a travel agent to arrange for our travel needs. One of us did loose some luggage during this travel and he got a good amount as claims.

regards
kumaran

Dear All,

I fully endorse both the points written by our friend kdevaneson. After reading from various posts of this thread, I spoke to various travel agents. I found one common thing that it does not only happen with ALITALIA, it can happen with any flight. Rather it has happened with varoous other flight companies in PAST . However they did mention that you have to be an extra carefull at MILAN (ITALY), even with your handbag. People move with identical handbags and replace yours with a FAKE one.

According to me, getting insurance of the baggage can be the BEST WAY of moving with a peace of mind.

Hey, talking about myself, I booked my tickets for ALITALIA only. Got a good price (Rs. 28500 all incl for VADODARA-MUMBAI-MILAN-TORONTO). In fact if you call up any travel agent in Baroda, they will first start with this fast selling package of ALITALIA. Lot of my friends recently travelled with this option.

Regards,

VJ.
