My company ING also was trying to charge me extra when I added my wife as a driver to our car but when we showed that she had a driving record for more than 10 years in India and US combined , They did not increase my premium but I feel safe in disclosing it to avoid any non-payment of claims if my wife ever crashes the car

We will find a way or we will make one
I just moved from US in NOV and I have 5 1/2 years of US driving experience I got G license and I have one car Toyota Corolla my auto insurance comes around $180 but when I tried to add my wife's name who has 2 years of US experience my auto insurance comes almost $300 per month.
And this quote I got from CAA and PC Financial.
I would really like to know why in my case the insurance rises so much. We both have clean records. I work from home and my wife doesn't even work I mean she is House wife.
Please If anyone could advice me regarding my situation.
Thankyou in advance

Adding a second driver should not make any difference to the insurance premium, unless the driver being added has a proor driving record and/or violations and past claims.
If the wife has recently got a G2 and doesn't have any past violations, claims or bad record then insurance should not go up.
