Anyone can teach driving.
It doesn't have to be a licensed driving school instructor.
When you go for the road test, it doesn't matter who taught you driving as long as you pass :)
For complete novice drivers, driving instructor cars are safer because they have dual braking control.

Here are the restrictions for G1 licence holders:

As a G1 driver, you are required to:

* maintain a zero blood alcohol level while driving;
* be accompanied by a fully licensed driver, who has at least four years driving experience, and a blood alcohol level of less than .05 (accompanying drivers 21 and under must have zero per cent), in case he/she needs to take over the wheel;
* ensure the accompanying driver is the only other person in the front seat;
* ensure the number of passengers in the vehicle is limited to the number of working seat belts;
* refrain from driving on Ontario's "400-series" highways or on high speed expressways such as the Queen Elizabeth Way, Don Valley Parkway, Gardiner Expressway, E.C. Row Expressway and the Conestoga Parkway;
* refrain from driving between midnight and 5:00 a.m.

Note: If your accompanying driver is a driving instructor licensed in Ontario, you may drive on any road.

As long as your hubby is fully licensed for atleast 4 years, you should be fine.

Is it 4 years after full license or total experience of 4 years?

Also do these 4 years comprise driving in Canada or outside as well ... ?

Lastly besides empty parking lots , which other places can a G1 driver drive initially to learn driving ??

That’s not entirely true. I don’t know about newer licenses but in older (previous version of what we have today) use to have some number of stars in red strip under the photo. Number of those stars means that you cannot teach G1 license holder for those many years. If I am not wrong you must have 4-5 years of driving experience under G class license to teach anyone. And if you want to become a licensed driving Instructor thn there other formalities to be completed.

Goodarjun I would suggest you to call MTO and ask them this question they will clarify this for you.

I would highly recommend taking initial lessons from a good instructor and then practicing with the hubby. I am doing the same right now. I have a great instructor and can feel the diffrence between learning with an instructor n some1 else...also the instrutor has break controls so u dont have to worry about your car being damaged.!!!!
