Its fun to argue with u though!!!

I had a sneaking suspicion that this was the case
Anyhow, sorry if this sounded like an argument - that was not my intent at all.
I was merely posting my personal opinion only and I realise that many may not agree with it, and that's alright.

That is precisely the intent of discussion, innit?

Cheers and have a great week !

I might be wrong as I was never checked and plus anothr friend of mine (who had an IT clearance) wasnt checked as well.

But I agree as a safe measure 1 may get an IT clearance beforehand.

Looks like my information was a bit outdated.... Check out peacock1's second post on this page:

1. Do I need to get the Income Tax Clearance before leaving on my PR visa at the airport.

I dont think they ask for it any longer - I know of two people who left for the US and they were not asked for the same. Check with your travel agent for the current requirements.

2. Do they (immigratin people at Delhi airport) ask me to show the proof of funds that I will be carrying along, I mean receipt of the money with me Cash / drafts / traveller cheques etc.

The Immigration people in Delhi are not concerned about your situation in Canada. You are not allowed to carry more than INR500 in cash out of India. Immigration in Canada will ask for proof of funds.

3. I have applied for PR in SW federal category and on my COPR form final destination is winnipeg. Will there be any problem if I land at Toronto airport?

Nope. You can land anywhere in Canada except Montreal/ Quebec. You are considered landed at the first time you (or your flight) lands on Canadian soil. Since you are flying in, book a flight direct to Toronto i.e. (Europe -> Toronto) and NOT (Europe -> Montreal -> Toronto). The Quebec govt can get pretty shirty if you land in Quebec. You can, of course, settle in Quebec after landing in Toronto.

4. I am planning to go to UK and want to stay there for 4-5 days before entering Canada on my PR visa. Do I need to attach any documents while applying for UK visitor visa or simply I submit my passport which already has a Canadian PR visa?

You probably need to submit an explanation - they will not just issue a Visa and dont count on them checking your PP for the Canadian Visa. Your travel agent should be able to help.

5. Can I take along some common medicines with me while coming to Canada like Disprin, Zupar etc. Is carrying common medicines to canada allowed?

You would be well advised to. CIC website states you should carry a supply of medications. You probably just need a letter (or prescription) from your local doctor stating that these are required medicines. I used to carry lots of my medicines (a full years supply) into the US and never had any problems (or any explaning to do). But Canadian might be different.

6. Please suggest some airline which is cheap and best for travelling Delhi-Lndon(UK)-Toronto-Winnipeg.

For the TO-Wpg section it might be cheaper to book separately in Canada (although you would be paying in CAD). Check out local airline sites such as: aircanada.com, jetsgo.com and westjet.com for discounted fares.

By the way this would mean that you are landing in Toronto but settling in Winnipeg/ MB. You can apply for PR card at TO airport (if you know your address in Wpg) else they will give you a form which you can fax to them when you have an address. You dont need to apply for Health Card in TO - you can go to the Health Dept. here in Wpg and they will issue your Health card over the counter.

If you need any specific assistance in Winnipeg let me know.

Hi all.
After going thru this thread it looks like people are not comfortable with many things there in Canada i.e. food in India seams to be better, medicines r also more effective here in India ,weather is better here n so on.
Please excuse my asking a question about why is there a mad rush of applications for immigrating to Canada fr India? Why donot people stay back in India.
Regards
