Hello Mere Desi Bandhuon
I have a small question here and your help will be greatly appreciated.
As per the special marriage act 1954, a Canadian Citizen can get married with an Indian Citizen by providing the following information :-
Notice of Intent to get married, to be submitted by both parties.
By both parties it implies that both the groom as well as the bride should sign the form and submit it to the registrar/marriage officer in the disctrict where the marriage is going to be solemnized.
Please provide your inputs for the following scenario. This is an urgent case :-
Suppose if the Canadian citizen is not able to sign the notice of intent, due to some exteneutaing circumstances..how should one go ahead and proceed ? Is there a possibility for POWER of ATTORNEY..wherein the Canadian citizen hires a Lawyer in India to represent him/her and the lawyer signs on his/her behalf ? Of 'cos, the person will reach in time for the actual formalities (which forms the next part of the marriage ceremony).....
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Not sure I get you correctly.
If the person will be present for the actual ceremony, why not perform the ceremony as scheduled and then register the marriage at the local Registrar's Office and get a marriage certificate.
Maybe I am missing something.
