Assuming, we are all talking allopathy here,
Effective? Yeah, if they are giving u 4 tablets dose to swallow for a simple fever :D

If your doctor gives that many drugs for "simple fever", then it is time to change doctors - whether in Canada or India.
Allopathy is by nature only a symptomatic cure.
No branch of Allopathy will help build your internal immune system or help your own body heal itself.
Regardless of whether you are in Canada or India, allpathy is allopathy.

We have stricter laws here, based on research/studies/policies...

Yeah, right.
Like Vioxx, Celebrex, Statins, etc.
Based on research, studies and policies indeed !

Quote:
they want ur body to build its own resistive power, which works pretty well HERE
I can assure you that building your body's immune system is the last thing on the mind of the drug making companies.
Quote:
because of lack of pollution, cleaner environment,
You mean besides all the industrial wastes, poisons and residues, etc. that are dumped into our water supply every day, into the air we breathe all the time and so on?

Quote:
less diseases because of healthier living standards, food standards,etc,etc...
You mean the food standards that allow nitrates, MSG, irradiation (even for school lunches for kids), homogenisation, and what not.

In my opinion, the environment and so-called "food standards" are a lot better in India than in the West.
Here, you are decieved by the shiny, spick-and-span aisles in grocery stores, waxed and glazed fruits and vegetables, neatly polished floors, etc.
That masks the fact that the food available here is not any more healthy or clean than the ones available in India.

But going back to the topic of medicines, as I said, allopathic medicine will never depend on your body to cure itself.
You need allpathy when you need an immediate relief.
In my case, I have to take allopathy when I suffer from severe allergies (especially during spring).
For day-to-day cold and flu, it is better not to take drugs.

Sometimes, you have to go back to work and can't stay at home sick, so you need to take allopathic medicines to suppress the symptoms.

In such cases, I find Indian medicines more effective than the ones here in North America, at least for me.
Of course, a lot of the salts may be the same but just called differently.

1. Do I need to get the Income Tax Clearance before leaving on my PR visa at the airport.

I DONT THINK THE IMMIGRATION ASK U 4 AN IT CLEARANCE

Yes you do. Officially you got to demonstrate that you've paid all taxes you owe Mamma India before you become a Hindustan Leaver.

I personally know people who got their IT clearance before immigrating. I know one who was not asked about it at the airport. And another who 'fixed' the IT clearance issue with the concerned officer, when asked for it.

I think I managed to convey my message across.
I am not sure what your point was, or if there was one at all.

Rest is upto the original poster on what he wants to do.
I think all of his questions have been answered in parts.

Roy,

I might be wrong as I was never checked and plus anothr friend of mine (who had an IT clearance) wasnt checked as well.

But I agree as a safe measure 1 may get an IT clearance beforehand.

Manasvi.
