Hi...This is Anis Padela, Indian citizen.
I want to apply for Immigration to Canada under skilled worker category.
I have done my primary assessment of my skills but I could not get exact idea about points on the basis of my education.
I have spend 12 years of schooling, then 3 years to get Bachelor's degree in Science from University and then 2 years for Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Institute....Total 17 years of Full Time education in India. Post graduate degree in management requires minimum eligibility of bachelor's degree at graduate level and it is considered to be equivalent of Masters Degree. After analyzing the table against my education, I could not conclude will I get 20 points or 22 points or 25 points???
I would request experts to share their views on this and those who had been to same situation can also share their experiences... Please respond...Anis
20 pts for ur educatoion, but if u have done MBA then u will get 25pts. depends what is writtten on ur degree and is that equivalent to MBA.
otherwise the visa officer will only take into account that u have a graduation and a pg diploma, for which he will give u 20pts. but if its MBA then he will give u 25 pts.

Hi....Well I think I will get 22 points.....In India PGDBM is equivalent to MBA but as PGDBM is not Masters Degree, I will not get 25 points. But this is considered as diploma for which basic eligibility is Bachelors Degree so certainly this is rated as more than Bachelors level. I understand, current education points system does not clarify this points but in old system there was specific section as "Some Post Graduation, but no degree" and same section is available with CAIPS notes also with code no. 06....I talked to many migration consultants also and they were 100% sure that this wil fetch 22 points any case. I hve gone through policy guides also which is issued for visa officer and in one of the notes, it clearly says if bachelors degree is prerequisition for any credential and that credential is considered as second level degree by the education system of the country of study then candidiate shall get 22 points. Even it will be considered first level degree then also 22 points can be awarded....Please comment....I will appreciate your opiniom..Anis
Are you gettting adequate points on other accounts?
What is your total now?
Hi.....Well this is very tricky situation...
I have 21 from experience, 10 from age, 14 from IELTS (7 in 3 modules and 6 in one) and 22 from Education. So exactly as cut-off 67. Let me quote the exact para which I have derived from policy guides issued by Immigration Authority for visa officers....
Note: Medical Doctor degrees are generally first-level university credentials, in the same way that a Bachelor of Law or a Bachelor in Pharmacology is a first level, albeit “professional” degree, and should be awarded 20 points. If it is a second-level degree and if, for example, it belongs to a Faculty of Graduate Studies, 25 points may be awarded. If a Bachelor’s credential is a prerequisite to the credential, but the credential itself is still considered a first-level degree, then 22 points would be appropriate. It is important to refer to how the local authority responsible for educational institutions recognizes the credential: i.e., as a first-level or second-level or higher university credential.
The point to note is "If a Bachelor’s credential is a prerequisite to the credential, but the credential itself is still considered a first-level degree, then 22 points would be appropriate." and in post graduation studies, you are elegible only if you have Bachelor's degree from university which I have....About recognition by local authority, AICTE, statutory body responsible for recognition consiers this PGDBM equavalent to MBA. Please refer to website http://www.aicte.ernet.in/1mag_preamble.htm. But still I dont want 25 points as this is not Masters Degree but certainly I can get 22 points. Let me know your comments...
Anis
If I were you I would put in my application and wait till the time comes for interview. Not use further analysing, unless you want to get into paralysis from analysis.
Hi LD...I appreciate your suggestion....
Well..i wanted to go for further analysis for the sake of people like me...as I have seen in many boards, no formal conclusion on this situaiton..in fact, this is one majow flaw in education points assessment of immigration policy. I have filed through consultant and she is 100% sure about 22 points and ask me to expect interview waiver....But I dont want to be so hopeful for this....And I am sure, if visa officer will have proper idea about Indian education system, he will give me 22 points straight away...and I am sure he will have good idea about this as so many applicants are from India...One thing I want to ask you...if they award 20 points....will they reject the applicant or will give me chance to submit another document to match the point???
