Let's not kid ourselves folks - admissions are going down for foreign students in US universities because tuition is skyrocketing at American Universities - and VISA requirements are getting tougher and tougher. In order to get a US student VISA - you need to first prove you or your family has the tuition and living expenses required to pay for studies in the US in your bank accounts, by way of submitting bank statements. Imagine someone from India decides they'd like to do their undergraduate work at say Columbia University in New York - the living costs/tuition for a year at Columbia is upwards of about 40K US per year (x4). How many families in a poor country like India have hundreds of thousands of dollars just stashed away in bank accounts in order to pay for an elite US university? How many Canadians, Australians or Brits have that type of money inactively stashed away in bank accounts? Even most Americans now days need student loans and financial assistance. That my friends is he reason why more people are choosing less elite universitie in, Canada, Australia, Europe and nations other than the United States. It's not by choice - it's simply a question of eligibility for VISAS and financial aid at expensive US schools.
