I have downloaded music files from Kazaa but some files are not mp3. They do not have an extension. They can be played by Windows Media. When I click on properties it just says file. Does anybody know what kind of audio files they may be and how to convert them to mp3 format.

Try dowloading a program called CDEX. its actually a free cd ripping software.
It has a bunch of conversion routines that may work.

No extension, thats strange. hearing it for the first time.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

Try this:

Go to windows explorer->tools->folder options->view->hide file extensions for known file types (Remove the check mark here and it should display the extension)
