Hi Manasvi,
Things do not move here faster. You apply for a job. Then just to get a call, it takes about a month sometimes. Generally, it takes between 2 to 3 months for the entire process to be over. Having a local address helps. You can start applying a few months before you decide to land here. You may turn lucky too.
Best of Luck!
:)
PS:It is raining in Vancouver today.

Hi Senior Desi, I used to live in Vancouver in 2001 and moved out to Toronto due to sheer desperation. I used to spend all day every day for 3 months sending out resumes and staring at the phone for a callback. I am an accountant and now have a good job. Is it still the same? Also, what about the housing prices? They seem to be going crazy there - even worse than TO.....i live Van and its mountains, access to ski slopes, and clean air, but as someone else mentioned, you have all that scenery and no money to enjoy it.....

Huh? Who said? Job growth rate in BC, if I'm not wrong, is now the fastest in Canada. People are moving from all parts of Canada (including Alberta & Ontario) to BC - atleast from what I have seen. Yes, IT is doing quite well in BC. The market is not as big as Toronto, but neither is the competition.

Individual experiences may vary, but this is my observation.

Also, I don't quite agree about things moving too slow. It is hard to generalize, and depends on the company, project needs etc.

Not as many desis as in Toronto, but so what?

Hi Manasvi,
Whether it is less Desis or more Desis,it all comes down to how many friendly desis you see.
People are coming from everywhere to work on IT projects, as Jughead says.(My husband also says the same). But things move slowly , as far as my husband has seen. But there are people who get job so fast.It is all your luck, I think.
But, we like living in Vancouver.
:)
