So how exactly do you measure status
Some, but not limited to, ways:
1. No of box office hits till date under his belt.
This should be box office hits per year in working span I think
2. Period of survival in the top slot in industry.
Difficult to compare becoz they are from different generations
3. Fee producers are willing to pay.
I think both of them charge roughly 2 to 2.5 crores per film
4. Performance outside the film industry.
This is subjective
5. Fan following.
Subjective
6. Charisma.
Subjective
7. Acting ability
Subjective

In all these measures, the stammering chimp is nowhere even close to BigB.
I would agree that Khan hams a lot if he doesnt have the right guidance but todate I have not seen a movie in which AB can be accused of hamming but then I have not seen ALL his movies.

BigB is a star performer. His acting is par excellence no matter what the role.
Ask him to do comedy and he is the best. Till date the best of his comic performace was that episode in Satte pe Satta where he goes to discuss the alliance of his brother with Amjad Khan. Keeps drinking and kissing Amjad Khan on the cheek. That was hilarious. I can see that scene over and over and again and never stop laughing.
I can't remembr any movie of Sharukh where he has done real comedy that could have you rolling with laughter.

I was reading an interview by Karan Johar other day ...he clearly mentioned Big B just like God in Bollywood world and one shouldn't compare SRK with the God(Big B).
Personally I believe after Big B ,SRK is the only one who can be termed as "Total Entertainer" and as a human being people also talk high about SRK.
What I believe is for some reason from very beginning SRK started following Dilip Kumar's style of acting and he likes to act with over facial expressions ...but again every actor/actress has their own style of acting and create their own popularity/market based on that
As for example if if someone ask me to pick up any comedy movies between Paresh Rawal and Big B I may pick up Paresh Rawal's movie Hera Pheri ..I may even pick up Utpal Dutta's Golmal before any of Big B's comedy movies.
Now why we just can't compare with Big B with anyone else ??...because he is the perfect alrounder ...his acting style is unique and he came into that particular era when movie lovers got bored with soft romantic acting of Rajesh Khanna and in that partcular socioeconomic condition of India they liked Big Bs perfect angry young image.
Now we may all forget Big Bs movies which came in mid 80s and 90s precisely before KBC hit serial.Big B was picking up wrong roles and result was obvious with films like 'Aaj Ka Arjun" etc.One point of time Big B even depended on Govinda to make his movie hit(Ex: Bare Mian Chote Mian).
Fortunately after KBC's success Big B bounced back like anything ....seleted roles which are in accordance with his age/personality ,worked with talented directors and result is obvius now.
Now if you discuss about some common scenes acted by Big B and SRK I believe in Mohabattein(Partcularly the last scene where Big B came to know about SRK's true identity) they are equally great .. in KKKG also in their common scenes they tried to deliver their best.
So I would say without comparing just appreciate both these guys contribution to Bollywood .
