Dr_sa
Nice article, Thanks for raising some of the issues.I agree fully with you on all the points. The article is good attempt to stir the concious of people of "our" country. We all say say say -----. But are you sure everybody is in the same boat?
Have you ever tried to know what happens to those who try to do for India what India needs?
Can you spare few moments I will give just few examples.
1 A friend of mine serving as a doctor belongs to shedulde cast.He was failed in exam just because he objected to the teacher for calling hiom by caste. What did he do wrong . Don't India need to have castless society? You wont find this in canada.
2. The same fellow was not allowed to appear in other exam as he exposed a corupt teacher.( He was honoure with punishment for what he was doing for India)
3 You reserve a seat in train but you find somebodyelse occupying the seat. You complain to the authority. What happens you are told to forget and take it easy because the fellow in seat is Don's man
4. I myself served the nation for 16 years with honesty .And you know what I got as a reward- i was transfed for 25 times for my honesty. I did't pay "money" I was paid the same basic salary for twelve years.
There are many more this just the tip of icebrg
I do agree with your view. But want to add --In addition to What's needed shuold be done for India we also need to do for people who are tryong to do their bit and suffer for the same.

Dear Pasha,
I am sorry to know what happened with you and your friend back in India, I know there are 'bad' things happening in india, but even Canada or for that matter any other country is not free of such incidences, heard of a sikh guy being forced to cut his hair in BC itself? Believe it or not racism does exist here also, may not be castism, but there is surely a difference between a white and a brown guy. In India u should be little 'chalu' yourself to survive. after all sheesha hi sheeshe ko kata hai!

Apparently, you've heard about the allegations but did not hear about their retraction............

The Sikh boy made up the allegations, he wanted to cut his own hair, so cooked up a story about 'white teenagers beating him up'.

Some people want to see racism in everything around them though, so we'll probably hear about this 'story' for a long time to come.

I was not aware of the 'make up story'. See its not just the politicians who try to take advantage of religion, even the common person on streets is doing it!!
