Hi,

Asking a silly questions. But can anyone answer me ?

I had never been in Canada, but will land as immigrant in July' 2005 from USA.

Two quetsions I have...

a. Is it 110 volt or 220 ? Will my USA consumer goods work in Canada ?

b. I know it is KM instead of Miles as in USA. I assume it is left hand drive everywhere. Is there are right hand driving ?

Thanks,

Alok

The convertors worked fine for me.

Any phone that is powered from the telephone line itself, does not need any voltage convertors / power adaptors....

Depends on what u want to plug-in. :h
I was just a visitor in CA but did notice that 220VAC supply is also widely available and is normally used for powering higher wattage machines like ovens, dryers etc...

my 2cents..

I know of some desi's who have installed a 220V outlet in their kitchen and are using their 220V mixer/blender.

Heavy appliances usually are 220 V both in US and Canada - examples - cooking stove, electric dryers, etc. The outlet looks different. Otherwise, everything else is 110V.

Lot of newer appliances tend to accept a range of voltage varying between 110 to 230.

My laptop works between 110 and 230. There are electric razors with 110 to 230 range. Turns out to be convenient if you are a world traveler. All you then need is the plug pin adapter to fit the pin of the country you are visiting.

US, Canada and Mexico have the same voltages and driving system (even though driving disciplines vary dramatically in Mexico :)

US follows the english system (miles, feet, pounds) while most of the rest of the world follows the metric system (km, meters, kilograms)
