Fellas..here is the city budget ...the target for the day is ...else you are well aware that we are already into job cuts ...you may be next ... so let yourself lose on citizens and non citizens... go collect ..for your own good..sake of your families.. theme for the current month is 'distracted souls behind the wheels', ... together we can beat them ..shows us that you have in it!! ... god speed...disperse please!

All said and done , This is for our own good and to stay safe on the roads, texting while driving is the killer.
To safeguard that the cops are not caught on wrong foot, anything including eating the mobile shape burger is covered ! it makes sense to me... now stop scratching and both hands on the wheels pls ! After all you passed your driving test in that position...

I assume that you have never heard the John Tory live drive on Newstalk 1010.
Police have a quota, which many police officials have confirmed to John Tory. What was not said is that the police are encouraged to ticket dark skinned immigrants rather than the white skinned ones. It is a sutle saying.
I am not against that rule as the fathers of natives, came in boats and without houses waiting for them on the shores and at - 40 deg. cent and without electricity built this solid country and built facilities for us immigrants many of whom have done Bsc comp. sci. in god forsaken colleges in India and are employed for 100K + salaries. So we deserve to be treated one notch below the native borns.
What surprises me is that you thought that such quotas were not there in Canada.
I guess I must welcome you guys to Canada !

I may be new but not ignorant Sir, I am aware of 'talks' abt the police officers having ticket quota , unwritten though. Those are talks only, nothing concrete.
Lets think from a job evaluation perspective - In reality in the field job like that, the supervisors got no other data to find out the 'performance' so number of tickets dispersed on a shift by an officer testifies he was working & vigilant and not sleeping in his car. That is the only reason even within the force they talk about 'how many' issued for the month or quarter. Officially no such targets are set but unfortunately the departmental culture is built now to count number of tickets.
A city will build its target budget on the basis of fine amount from tickets is to too lame a fact to register in my head.

The fact we hear that dark skinned immigrants are targeted , in my view point is more emotional outburst than anything else. when same dark skinned are offered 100K salary, its their qualification and not the racism but on making a mistake if caught (which generally does not happen in India) , there is out-cry of a racism !! !!

When a native gets a ticket , he takes it a routine , shrugs it off , at the most utters few F words here and there and thats it. When an immigrant gets a ticket, there will be big discussion first within family, there will be huge get together around his desk in office. it will be discussed for weeks before some other event over power desi mind.

All I know is more we cry on these petty things more we are showing how downtrodden we are in our thought process. Its about time to raise the bar.

The only reason why dark skinned IT Bsc people are offered 100K + in Canada, is not because the govt. wants to help you but that these jobs are available but no local qualified (even Bsc comp. sci) to take it. Due to the USA IT boom spreading to Canada, Europe is reason why.
Police have a quota and it helps police in their salary bargain process. You may know that the police and fire fighter budget is increasing steadily year after year and the police bargaining commitee says that they bring in so much of revenue by way of tickets and hence their ever increasing budget needs to be raised.
I would encourage you to listen to the John Tory show at News talk 1010, 4-7 pm on weekdays. In that show, you can listen to how the govt. servants exploit the country in so many ways. What is discrete is that dark skinned immigrants are now allowed to exploit as the natives as we have been brought here to work hard, take the jobs that no Canadian would normally take, pay taxes, bring our money from our home countries and spend here etc…

I would say it is not the distracted device but anything which distracts you from driving. In such scenarios there will be many reasons to get the tickets

-Using cellphone while driving ( Already under law )

But what about following which can also distract the driver and lead to accidents

1. Talking to the passengers while driving.
2. Listening to the music.
3. Shifting the gear as said in my earlier post. Because for that moment you have to drive by one hand.
4. Looking at the mirror for rear or side view as you will be distracted from looking ahead.
5 Day dreaming but how cop will know that what the person was thinking while driving
6 Drinking coffee which was picked from drive thru.
And list goes on

I think the main reason behind ticketing is not for public safety only. It is more than that.

This isn't really about safety. However, I will say that for your own safety (and for fellow drivers around you), it's better to NOT use your cellphone while driving.
