purchase a voltage stepdown converter if available cheaper in india or else wait for fellow desi's to reply the cost of purchasing one in Canada Vs. India
Does this laptop has "power brick" - the little black heavy brick which sits between your laptop and power socket? What is the make and model of your laptop?
Usually laptops are designed for travellers. Thus have builtin capability to connect to power soruce from 110V to 220V. Check the specs to make sure your laptop is not compatible for 110V.
Normally you just require a plug adapter to accomodate the difference in NA power socket and ROW power socket. No step-down or -up required for laptops.

Hi,
Usually all laptops support dual voltage. As anilkg mentioned, laptops are meant for mobile traveller and hence made to work universally. However you can make sure by checking the power rating on the back of the power adapter and it should say something like 110V-240V. Dont get confused by the rating on the 3pin plug which goes in the power outlet . You'll probably have to change it to fit canadian socket.
Hope it helps

I agree with "erebello"
As for my information and knowledge also, Laptop does not need any change for using any where.
