Fantastic punchline......
Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America,
we were told to eat our vegetables at dinner and not leave them.
Mothers said, 'think of the starving children in India and finish the dinner.'
And now I tell my children: 'Finish your maths homework.
Think of the children in India who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

This is essentially a hyperbole, a melodramatic presentation of a non-existing threat. More people are using it to gather votes.
Nowadays xenophobia is growing and some people are directly or indirectly promoting it.
If anyone loses his job to the next person in a free market, it is usually due to higher efficiency. Colour of skin or country of origin does not play any part. ( If anything it may adversely affect immigrants and not other way round)
Anyway this is a morale booster to Indian children.
