I have done my medicals second time after it expired this feb. Few months back CIC had send me 2nd set of medical forms. As advised entire family again did medical but it has been more than a month now , Any idea how much time it takes are medical for ppt request and anything that i need to do at my end ?

keeping my fingers crossed that i may not have to wait for another one year for passport request.I think it happens to few that their documents are lost in thin air. Anyways whatever happens is for good.

what is the reason they gave for thisdelay?
you are infact the 1st case i have seen yet taking more than 2 yrs having applied @ Buffalo.

It sounds like your background/security checks are still going on, which is causing this delay.
Have you submitted FBI report from the US?
Have they asked for an updated FBI clearance (it is valid only for 6 months)?
Since they have asked for new medicals, it sounds like the case is still active and they haven't lost track of you

You are right, twice they had requested our finger prints. Actually they gave no reasons as such, last letter i received from them stated that they have only received medical result of my wife and not me. I guess lost in mail case.
There after there was a long wait of 9-10 months.i was impatently checking my mails everyday thinking that ppt request will come. 
After a long wait 6 months after my medicals expired they had send letter to redo medical exam......
still waiting , lagta hai five year plan hai..............

Are your educational degrees from well-known univerisities in metro areas like Delhi, Calcutta, Bombay, etc. or from remote areas?
That can add significantly to the timelines.
Did you provide all your job experience letters?
Have you already paid ROPR fee?

If necessary, pay the doctor extra for couriering your reports via FedEx and provide you with the tracking number.
Also, if you do not receive passport request (or further communication) 6 months after sending your medicals, it is probably time to request CAIPS notes to figure out what's going on.
That might reveal what kind of check/verification is holding up your case.
