\"Apalled\" , \"disgusted\", \"hurt\", and \" insulted\" are some of my feelings when I read these comparison. Has humanity sunk to so low levels that in the face of tragdy, death and destruction, we make capital of it, by making silly comparisons, and make the whole tragedy look so small?
These guys who compare New Orleans to Mumbai - would they do that if one of their loved ones had perished in either of the places? Besides, how can some one do this comparison when lives have been shattered, people have lost their homes, loved ones and have nothing to look forward to?
SHAME ON THESE GUYS. If you think Mumbai did a better job, GO back there, never to return. And for the sake of those who perished (be it Bombay or New Orleans)........please grow up and STOP making these comparisons.
Instead, compare this:
HIV cases in India Vs that in Canada.
Crime Rate in India Vs that in Canada.
Prostitution in India Vs that in Canada.
Corruption in India Vs that in Canada.
Dowry Deaths in India Vs that in Canada.
Untouchability in India Vs that in Canada.
Politicians in India (with the the undeworld nexus) Vs that in Canada.
No of brazen Criminals who control life in Mumbai Vs that in Canada.
Dirt, squalor, slums in India Vs that in Canada.
HOw much time you spend in a line during your lifetime Vs that in India.
Telecommunications in India (Read \" P & T Department\"
vs that in Canada.
How accessible is your MP in India Vs that in Canada.

wow thats some comparision u put up there, totally agree with that.
But i think u are mistaken about the New Orleans VS Mumbai post.... i dont think anyone is trying to make fun of the situation....but instead its a realistic look at how things are...whats wrong if india seems to be better in handling such natural disasters? i dont think any one is celebrating that or trying to belittle the New Orleans situation.... but yes as an indain it does feel good to know that. some one was telling me the other day that india has even sent aid to US.
i feel proud that India is able to help out. Nothing at all to be ashamed of

I am happy that you are proud that India is doing it's bit in this hour of need. It is no secret that whereever thee is a natural disaster, the Americans are the first to respond. The US peace corps have done yeoman service in Asia and the most remote parts of Africa, where we would even dread to set foot into. Now that is what help is all about.
I have absolutely no hesitation in saying that in this hour of need, we need to help (or pray, if we can't). No one in the right sense of mind would disagree with that . I don't know if you believe in the end of this "yuga" as mentioned in the Vedas, but I am sure it is coming. According to popular belief, this world will end with countless disasters like storms, accidents, riots and battles. While we can do nothing to stop the will of God, should we not help (or pray) like I mentioned before?

Hiv cases canada- 56,000. INdia -3.67 million
Difference in percentage is close to 1.5%. Consdering illiteracy rate to be close 44% and poverty rate sitting at 29% and the medical facilities and awareness nowhere near Canada. SO dont make it sound as if every 10th indian has aids.

I would agree that it is low here but looking at the way things have been going in toronto in the last few months. if i was to sit down and get statistics and compare it with one of the indian metros, you might be surprised that toronto is leading......I dont know for sure but i would think.

I am from gujarat and we have local calls within the entire state and I was reading they are going to do that with the entire country going local.
Does any state in canada boast of taht. Cellphones are much cheaper .....I am talking of rate plans and the coverage is excellent forthe most part. My phone stops working the moment i head for cottage country (bell and telus).

Why does God want to do that? Why does your God create disasters in the first place? And why does God create such disaters that kill more innocents than sinners?
