Hi,

I’m really getting frustrated regarding telephone batteries. For last 2 yrs I bought 2 telephones & it last only for 7-8 months. I tried to replace the batteries, but it cost the same as new telephone. Is there any alternative? Like battery charger or something???

Any advice regarding this is appreciated.

What happend to the 'base-unit' that came with the telephone ? The built-in charger in that is probably not doing a good job.

Do not keep the 'fully charged' handset back on the cradle/ base-unit. This will reduce the life of your rechargable batteries.

And, what's the model number ?

Lots of batteries have something called "the memory effect" which will make the battery useless after a while. Charge your phone in the cradle only when it is low or close to being dead. That can extend the battery life of your phone.

Phones that have lithium-ion batteries don't have this "memory effect" so look for a phone that has this. I have a Uniden 2.4 GHZ dual set phone and have had no problems with the phones or the batteries.

Hope this helps.

Yes . the replacement batteries are bad and are not up to standard. If get them from Battery Plus stores (and other stores)they sell replacement inferior batteries and it does not last long.( it cost them 5-7 dollars). ( Like buying batteries from roadside vendors of Mumbai VT)

Panasonic is the worst culprit. They keep on changing the battery models and difficult to get replacement batteries.

I agree as you said it cost the same as buying new telephone. So if you buy new cordless it would cost 30-40 dollars same as the cost of new battery. At least the new telephone will last 1.5-2 years. The replacement battery will last 6-8 months.
