Thanks for the link - Rhythm House rocks!

Anyways, I will be surprised if this DVD, if indeed it is a DVD, is manufactured in India. In any case, I do not see a reason why it should not work in a DVD player that I had bought (that I mentioned to DIO in my post).

The hindi movies (DVDs) that we get here are manufactured in the US or in the UK.

DVD are now available from moser baer ... these are very cheap 30-40 rupees range. The reason VCD's were more popular was because of cost. But with new players like moser baer that is going to change. You will see more DVD's in Indian market & ofcourse made in India.

Ohhh yeah - Rhythm House Rocks ...

But why do you think India can't manufacture DVD? It is not media it is Recording Technology. Technology is available to encode the Region information. If it is enabled, it won't work. Now I am not saying all DVDs are encoded - some DVDs are.

I can lend Indian DVD if you want to test your Player.

I never said (and I never think) that India cannot manufacture the DVDs. I just said that most of them are mfg. in USA/UK. The reason could be cost of recording or the cost of the DVDs.

I would have loved to test it with the borrowed DVDs from you, but unfortunately, since we are located far apart, we cannot exchange DVDs that easily! :-)

That was the case earlier as the market was small and few people who wanted DVD's could pay the high price That was the reason they were mostly manufactured in US/UK.

But now DVD's are made in India and the second largest manufacturer in world is an Indian company
