Hi friends...

I totally agree with the figures which vand3matram putting in his post.
I would like to bring his attention that how many people are getting these kind of salaries in UAE? very less people are fortunate to get these figures. I know few of my friends are not even getting 2000 US$ after working over 6 years in UAE with good firms in IT field. Only people in Oil fileld are getting good salarys. Now a day all oil compenys are recruting Arab speakers only. Also the rents in Abu dhabi and Dubai are not effordable to these salary people. I would suggest the people who are thinking to come UAE should know these things before they pack to uae

take it easy...

think twise

Hi all n a big hello to cmanyam.....

U have highlighted the exact reason i made my previous post for. I agree with you that not many people are fortunate to land up with a package of Dirhams 200,000.00/- p.a.
From the previous posting in this thread, I could get feeling that lot of CD members are interested in coming (back??) to the Middle-East, esp U.A.E.
I just wanted to give an approx idea of what they should be looking for. I myself have many colleagues who are Canadian citizens ... but they are mostly Arabs by origin.
What makes the matters worse here, is the localization drive. The UAE government is forcing public as well as private sector companies to employ more and more locals or emiraties.
I have absolutely no exprience of life style and professional oppurtunities in Canada, but as for this part of the world, I can very confidentaly say.... 90% of the people remain at the same post and earn the same until their retirement....and at the end of it they have to LEAVE THE COUNTRY!!!! by this time you are dhobi ka kutta ...na ghar ka na ghat ka ( no offence ... but if i dont move out of this plc pretty soon... u all will hear me barking on CD ...woof woof ;)

cheers, and as the Hitchhiker Guide 2 the Galaxy says ..DONT PANIC!!!

Furthermore, there is not \"religious\" strictness as in Saudi Arabia, here in UAE. The country is very open and liberal.

Thats one of the most positive aspects of living and working there.
My sister lives there and she has the same opinion.

As what I seen, the salary structure in UAE is generally like this

1. Western expat gets the high salaries followed by locals.

2. Then comes other Arabs like Egyptions, Paletstians, Yemenis, GCC etc.

3. Then we have other Muslims who are generally favoured.

4. Then we have our Indian/Pakistani big brothers who got into the country in the 70's or so with 10th or 12th std. and do not want to go and cannot go anywhere else.

5. Now here we have our ambitious young man of 90's stuck with employment rules and other factors always streching his neck up for better opportunity but quickly put down with the above factors.

6. Yet many people make it either thru luck, hardwork or thru manipulation and other tricks.

Hi vand3matram, Val

very true what you said. Also whit the new trends in UAE propertiy market, prices are going sky high. I saw lot of posts from CD members from canada want to come UAE. Please note the points "Val" commented in his post. Indians are mostly needed in very low paid jobs.

better luck...

Its a different scenario for educated Canadian Indians :) especially for those who negotiate their package (with international companies / Oil Companies) before coming to UAE or the ME.

In the current skyrocketing accomodation cost situation, do not forget to make your employer fully responsible for your accomodation during your negotiations before you set off for the ME.

For the other low paid Indians......Dont complain / think twice, if you get a chance for Canada, no better place than that; there is a minimum wage in Canada. Take this as free advice!
