These factors play an important role in securing a high paying job in the ME:
-American / European education
-American / European experience
-American / European Passport
-Contacts
-Getting hired from abroad
-Luck (Now please dont jump on me, for this last point, for me its the most important factor, though listed last, for your convinience )

Deal With Reality or Reality Will Deal With You
My dad works for a very well known Food Industry in Dubai and his entire pay package is ~8.3 k CAD per month which translates to ~99.6k per annum. Plus Medical for 2 dependents and spose. Also once a year trip for spouse and dependents TOR-DXB return.
Hope this is a good estimate.
hi all,
can contribute a bit to this thread as am currently working in UAE.
IMHO, if one lands up with a job of approx. 180,000.00 AED (UAE Dirhams) (CAD 59,000 approx) p.a. + medical insurance for the family... it is not bad. The standard of living is very good in UAE (esp in Dubai and Abu Dhabi). One gets the best of both the worlds...east n west. Home is not more than 3-4 hrs flying time (of course depends which part of the country u r from). With this salary, one can get good 2BHK apartment, car etc. Another common perk is 1 month holiday annually with return ticket to your home town for the family. AND did I mention NO TAXES!!!
Furthermore, there is not \"religious\" strictness as in Saudi Arabia, here in UAE. The country is very open and liberal.
Then y leave this place and go (and y am i browsing over to CD and getting info on Canada).... because utimately it is nothing but \"bondage\" labour here.
Once a company sponsors your \"Residence Visa\", you can only switch jobs if the current employer gives you a NOC (No Objection Certificate). Since this gives the employers an upper hand ... there is a lot of exploitation. Switching jobs and enhancing your career is not easy. Although the country does have rules which allow transfer of sponsorship and switching of jobs (which require expertise in rocket science to understand), the NOC part reduces everything to bondage labour.
Someone did mention about getting visa for UAE.... details can be found at:
