What do you folks think about the characters portrayed by sitcoms such as iCarly, "I love Indie".
I feel the main characters are often portrayed to be cheeky, rude, dumb, often frustrated. Unlike some of the morning shows that exhibit good things for the kids, these shows seem to have negative influence.
I watch "Every hates Chris" also and that isn't quite bad really.

The weak died on the way,
Only the strong arrived.

You know... you could bubble wrap your kids so they dont get any negative influences in their lives...
Im being cheeky ... but I like 'how to be indie", even though the target audience is not my age group.
Its realistic. Your children are separate individuals and are not extensions of you. Being sassy, cheeky isnt bad in my opinion. Being rude is something I have seen children pick up from their parents as well as from their peers. Most outgrow them as they get older, especially with good role modeling from their parents, older siblings etc.
I also dont see what is wrong with being frustrated. Its probably very normal. It also depends with what things they are frustrated.

I like the humour in Carly, but most often they are portraying either violence or un-ethical ways to get your things done, especially degrading teachers at school. Cheating, lying, tricking people is considered 'acceptable' which is not what I like my kids to be gaining from this. Of late they have been crossing over into 'romance' and teenage topics...
Indie - would rate 2/10 for absence of any plot or humour. The characters are too simplistic and naive, maybe stereotyping.
We haven't watch Chris - but will take a look soon - my son keeps requesting me to record the shows since he is not around when it airs.
Another show which 'I' hate but my 5 year old loves is HM - I agree it is not for me, but IMHO, she is over rated. Absolutely no acting talent from anyone in the show.
The show which we enjoy the most - Drake and Josh, jack and cody - maybe they are not for girls specially. D&J have a lot of kissing and dating stuff, but it is in a comic way - not 'romantic' way.
Anyways, our TV time is hardly 2 hrs/week besides the news and DVD movies.
