First get a stable job. that should be your priority. Based on that job you can find an appartment of your choice. The closer to your workplace the better.

For 1050+ you can get a good appartment in a good neighborhood.
For a little more you can get a very good one in a really nice surrounding.
I pay 1150 (2 room) and live in a garden style appartment in a very nice , open, clean, safe locality with beautiful parks all around.
i.e. Reduces depression caused by other things greatly.

I have always lived with one basic principle. No cutting of expenses on Food, clothing and Shelter. Since Food and Clothing are quite cheap here, appartment is the only thing to worry, I can always cut expenses in other areas and spend extra to get a good appartment /locality.

I have a friend who has lived near westwood mall in walkin basement for the last 2 years. He never mentioned anything. I guess it all depends on where you came from.

Was there a reason for you to settle there?
Dont worry about Desis. You will find them everywhere.
That should not be the prime consideration when looking for a place to live.

*sermon over for the day*

I am also living in Malton from last four years . i find no problem living there. i know it is full of desis but so is all Toronto, Mississauga & Brampton. it is quite safe but not very clean. it is quite well connected with everything.I am also from Mumbai but not from downtown but from western suburbs.may be your problem is job related so once you get a decent job just move to near to your work place.
however, malton is not so bad.

Of all the places how did you end up landing in Malton !!

That is not even Bombay/delhi it is amritsar / ambala...

Move out quickly.. there are many areas

Go around and see places. You will know by the feel of the area ( mostly ) and can coorelate or confirm with others and then move

Good luck with your move
