Hi SBM,
Depending on the actual time of landing come with what you will need minimum for the winter to land ,BUY YOUR REAL WINTER STUFF FORM HERE IN Toronto, I am not aware of the rates in middle east but , I know goods especially thermal wear from India are expensive there and not really suited for wear in Toronto in terms of style rates and all respect.
As regards to electronics, you will need 110 V ,In india you shall find 220V. 110 items from india shall be expensive add to your weight, you can buy appliances from here, but small accessories like adapter, converters, charger , and all other petty stuff you should get it from there as they are expensive , and hard to locate as to where to buy form, initially upon landing you shall have lot to attend to in priority rather than getting stuck with not so significant , but yet useful items.

Do not try to bring too much stuff. Sometimes, the cost of moving may work out to be more than the cost of the goods.
It is advisable to buy winter clothing from where you are going to live. Just bring in minimum. You can bring any small electronic items that operate on batteries.
You do not get typical Indian cotton bedsheets, cotton dresses, etc.
For the kitchen, I would say, bring atleast two non-stick pressure cookers, a sturdy mixie like Sumeet (you get 110 Volts in India itself), typical round bottomed kadai, etc.
Since, people here generally cook ,keep in the fridge and microwave and use it, all you need here is microwaveable, ceramic , glass containers, coffee mugs, plates, etc which you can buy here.
Probably you may want to bring some home-made spices to start with.
The most needed thing is $ only.

1.Are mattresses / comforters expensive there and is it worthwhile 2 carry them from India / ME ?
2.Is it better 2 carry a PC (by disposing u dont get the price and the SMPS generally has voltage switch behind.) I wonder if the monitors also have 1?
3.And dont forget 2 carry some spares for ur cookers like gaskets , valves etc since u may nt get them readily there.
4.I was wondering if a good interview suit be stitched from India or should be brought in Canada - its cheaper in India but are the suits / material adaptable to Canada .?
5. Formal Shoes definitely from India or so I think .
6. Adapters & small items may be brought @ flea markets @ a lesser price but a new Immigrant wudnt b n a posn 2 locate them initially and wud need these items immediately .Internet purchases have possibility of fraud .
