Nov 14th will mark the two year aniversary for my application for Permanent Residence to Canada. Didn't know I had it in me to patiently watch the mailbox day after day for two long years without giving up hope. I passed the selection interview, paid the ROLF fee, submitted all the documents that the Hungry CIC beast demanded. Wonders of Wonders, even the E-Client status changed to "Decision Made" two months ago and still no word from CIC save a reply to my inquiry stating that they too are waiting on the results of background checks. Only God knows when they'll get the results.

Hi,
I am also on the same boat. Applied in Sept.2001 and had a successful interview in May 2003 in LA and still waiting for the background checks to be completed. Does CAIPS notes give any information about when the background check will be over?
Thanks.
CAIPS won't tell you much about the final decision, especially if the visa officer is waiting for b/ground checks.

You should treat yourself lucky to get delayed- after all who wants to enthusiastically jump into a hot cauldron if one already knows about it? Continue whatever you are doing at present, save money and prepare yourself mentally before you come. Optimism is always good but be prepared for the worst scenario (life in Canada), just in case.
Anyway, your cases are through and its only a matter of time before you get your Visas.

I know of some people who applied after I did, had a selection interview after I did and have already gotten their visas. Wonder why that is?

Dear Chandresh,
Thank you for your rather dismal insight. However, I feel that I have earned my nickname not because I am young or an IT professional (both of which happens to be true) but because of the strength I possess inside of me, that helps me to keep moving on even in the face of the tougest adversities. I feel that we all have this strength inside of us and by giving up hope, we not only lose faith in ourselves but we let go of this strength for good too. I encourgae you to take a more positive look at life.
