Hello Everyone,
I am a landed immigrant and am contemplating travelling to US for a few days. I just have a few days over the 2 yr period needed to maintain the PR card since I was out of Canada for the past 2.10 yrs.
I need to know if the Canadian authorities stamp an entry date on the Passport while I return to Canada from the US, while returning by road. I do know that they stamp the entry date on the passport at the Airport but wonder if its the same if we travel by train / bus / car? If they dont stamp the passport, what is the process at the Canadian side when we re-enter Canada?
Also to go to NJ, which Border crossing should we use If I were to live in toronto? On the Map I see that we can travel via Niagra or via Kingston?
Thanks for any relevant info you can share.
Ciao !!
If the Canadians even check your Permanent Resident Card while you enter at the Land border, I'd be surprised. They are usually quite laid back and they certainly don't stamp your passport.

they are getting very vigilant now. and also for the sake of your citizenship you will need those records . so i would suggest you have your passport stamped.
I travelled to US last month and while coming back they didn't see passport nor swipe my PR card. This was in the Ist week of december.
Also to add, while leaving for USA they gace us new I-94 as my previous I-94 was expired, also they stamped as admitted on xx/xx/xxxx.
While coming back after 2 days , I asked Canadian authority to stamped in passport specifying that I am admitted back to Canada. They told it is not required , I explained them that It may be required while applying for citizenship ...but again they just told they can't do. No furhter explaination.
Hope this is helpful.
If I interpret this correctly, we can still work in US and fulfill minimum stay eligibility for citizenship?
Well if thats true than it's good news for people working in US. However, I heard that US and Canada share social security details. Is that correct?
