Here is my situation: My daughter’s Canadian passport is expiring within less than 180 days. She also holds PIO which is expiring after 2024. Both the parents hold OCI. We are travelling to India for 3 weeks during Feb 2015 to Mar 2015. BLS Toronto requires 4 to 6 weeks for PIO endorsement.
I have two options here:
Option 1: Apply for CPP asap and then apply for PIO endorsement. Problem with this option is that I am not sure if I will be able to get PIO endorsement before travelling to India which is in Feb 2015.
Option 2: Don’t do anything i.e. do CPP renewal and PIO endorsement after coming back to Toronto in March 2015. However there is rule http://travel.gc.ca/destinations/india that passport must be valid for at least 180 days from the date of entry into India. Hence i am not sure if this is workable.
Any thoughts / comments in my case?

Thanks FH for your response. I have already booked the ticket with my daughter's old passport.one more thing : I inquired with BLS and here is their response
"You can for sure travel as along as you are travelling on a valid passport on that very date."
Also as an aside, I traveled recently on a new passport NOT endorsed on my PIO card. No hassles at Hyd airport immigration(don't know about other airports). As a precaution I carried my old passports as well, but wasn't required to produce the same.
