I am looking to replace our current drinking water filter, which is a Britta jug with replaceable filter.

I am looking for better recommendations for a drinking water filter.

I am not sure whether I should go for those high-end reverse osmosis systems - are they really worth the $$$?

What other options are out there?

Are the PUR brand filters any different/better than Britta?

Essentially, my requirement is to remove all the chemical impurities, and if possible Chlorine.
It'll great if the filter also removes fluoride.

Water from the tap tastes like cat's p*ss. We have a one of those fridges that dispenses filtered water and it is sooo much better.

Why not get one of those fridges?

I had bought 3-stage "SO-SAFE" filter in UAE some time back, but found them to be of very BAD quality only in the first few days of use. The filtered water gave a bad smell. I asked the company to honour its 30-day money back guarantee but it refused.

After that I have stopped using filters. I rely on boiled or bottled water instead. I feel boiling is best as we can better ensure quality. Relying totally on any water-filter can be risky as any problem in filter's performance even for a day or two can expose one to great health hazards.

Regards
