What makes this absolutely interesting is that water is for the most part is taken for granted if you will. Who discusses water in a scientific way? Not many I would suppose. I mean, after all, what we were taught in school is (at least I was) - chemical composition is H2O, it is tasteless, it is odorless (no smartass tangents please ) - pretty rudimentary. Okay fine, set that aside and move on...hey look what happened when I pour H2SO4 on this plant...COOL!!

I think faster freezing of hot water than the cooler water is in line with one of the properties of water. I remember to have read in school and used to practice, in winters after boiling the water I used to add cold water to bring the water to the required tempararture, otherwise it cools down faster than the water with lower temparature ( which we used to use for bathing).
I am not sure if there are any other properties being discussed in the subject.
Rate of change of temparature is directly proportional to the temparature diffference.
