HEllo CD's,
I am to escort 2 infants/children to COimbatore (from Toronto) by Jet airways. I have to change my flight from the international airport terminal of Chennai to the domestic terminal of chennai. Since I will be with two small people on strollers, I will not be able to handle the luggage from the inetnational terminal and then haul it to the domestice terminal to check it in for the domestic flight.
Are there any porters available at Chennai intl. airport to help me with this job ( I will pay) and hauling the luggage to the dometic terminal (which is just next bldg...)
Any CD's experience with the chennai airport will be much appriciated.

As far as I know there are no porters available for that purpose. If you can pickup luggage from the belt, put on the trolley, and take outside the international terminal with help of a copassenger, you may be able to find someone outside who will do it for some money. Again they cannot enter domestic terminal without valid ticket or employee I-card.

Check with the airlines. I can say for Mumbai airport - they have porters to get your baggage and bring it over to the shuttle for the domestic airport. The airline should be able to help you with that.

There are ppl available to help with luggage, infact they seem to prey upon anyone who is having a problem and come forward and offer help, but at the end, be prepared to pay them in Canadian dollars because that is what they expect, or atleast 500-1000 INR, or they dont leave you....my personal exp as I am a chennaivasi....

I have put off the trip to Coimbatore and will terminate my trip at chennai itself.

With two little children in tow and a hand full of bags and a few suitcases to get off the carousel and out of the Customs check, you still might need the services of the Porters and hence see if they are available and handy for people in need.
