I appeared in IELTS test in UAE recently, and have sent a scanned copy of the report to CHC London by e-mail. It is necessary to send original as well by snail mail? Since they would still verify the results themselves directly, I feel it should not be necessary. Please advise.

Yes. It is important to send the original IELTS results to CIC. You can apply for a second copy from the British council if you requiure.
