Do u like what u do for living? May be this is a general qn.
For example, I like my work barring some irritations from co-workers, red tape, etc. Overall, I like what I do since my background (education) is same as what I am doing, have a free hand to do things/make decisions, hire staff/contractors, etc.

(I never changed my field except for 6 months in USA during the IT boom time where I was a contract programmer doing VB; hated it)

Yes I do:)

There is worthless politics and we all gripe about it, but at the end of the day, we all just laugh it off since I probably won't find any other work place any better than what I have.

I get to work flexible hours as long as I put in the required hours and complete my tasks. I get to work from home if I need to and the company is reasonable in allowing a good balance between work and personal life.

My efforts are recognized and I get training in everything I can think of and encouragement to do different things.

I don't know what else I can ask for.:)

I am happy with what I do. I love my job. Have been so far lucky to get what I wanted in terms of travelling, working from home, working from home city.

Hello!
I donot like what i do for a living (esp. in Canada). I do the same drafting work for 3 years now and it is only site plan of houses. Also we are not allowed to speak freely with our co workers (anyway some donot know english). I also donot like the fact that i have to pick my garbage, clean after i finish my lunch. I also have to make my own coffee, lock the office if i am the last to leave. Here we have to bring our own stationary (scales, calculator , rubber etc...)
To give an example what i did in my previous job (outside canada) was designing various buildings as a team. Mostly, one stupid guy will design and we would spend a week criticicing his design on the confrence table. I would only give my ideas, and draftsmen will draw it. I will only be instructing them, make phone calls, attend meetings, draft letters etc..
Coffee / beverage will be served as many times as i want in my table, my garbage picked up twice a day, my floor cleaned once a day, a driver will open the car door for me and he will drive and open the door to let me out etc... I can get any amount of stationary that i wanted.
How can i get that life back??????

Is it possible for you to go back to your previous job ? If yes then do it.
You now are a citizen of Canada. So can go anywhere I guess, right?
I think, and you might get back all that you are missing :( :D

Hello!,
I ran away from my last job to come to Canada and it will not be ethical to join the same job again. And i wrote a strong letter to my employer saying that i will be better off in Canada. In another case , i wrote to a co worker that my employer was a dog and my employer (former) read that letter.
In the job that i had in Malaysia, the country is going through a recession and canot hire foreign workers now.
I would love to go to UAE but i have no moolah now to go there and look for a job. Another thing is taht my wife has a good IT job here and my wife thinks taht Canada is the best place for Doctors and raising up children.
In India, L&T is calling me to rejoin (either b'lore or Chennai office). But if i join there , i have to stay comitted there since i will be taken on recomendation from my collegues. The salary there is 20K per month. My wife does not like to be in India of all places..

I realize you didnt ask for advice, however for future jobs:
Dont burn your bridges behind you. Speaking ill of a former employer can bite you in the back (close opportunities, damage potential references etc). Its better to leave a job in a professional manner by stating you enjoyed working there however are leaving for new opportunities and that you would like to use them as a reference.
it reflects on you as a professional - in my opinion.
