Dear All,

Has any one opened this account before landing? Does any one have a real data of the pluses and minuses of the account?

Although I did visit the web-page, but am curious to know, if someone has actually opened the same account before landing?

Hi VJ,

I looked up some of the account features and depending upon your circumstances, one feature struck me as possibly useful. While you can shop around for a bank with low fees and higher services anytime, the one thing you might find useful about this account is the preapproved MasterCard which you can use to build up your Canadian credit history. A good credit history is vital and not having a credit history is considered (just as) bad as a negative credit history. Most newcomers (we had the same problem) find it difficult to get a credit card initially whatever their financial status back home.

Dear All,

Hello Canada Account is good for nothing. Minimum account balance limit is CAD$10,000, and this thing is not mentioned on the ICICI BANK website.

I came to know the fact last friday, when i had a visit to New Delhi brach for opening a New hello canada account.

So, please do not go for it.

They need to improve their service. Left a message and also requested a call back from their web page also. This was 3 days back. Typical desi attitude when comes to service. May be they will answer quick if the name sounds local.

Is there any of you who opened a Hello Canada account with ICICI before you left for Canada? Can you please post your experience? I am looking at options to transfer money into Canada for showing the visa officer, and then transferring them back, (as i plan to spend a few more years outside Canada before finally settling. )

For this manouvere, will the expenses work out better than if i were to take a travellers cheque and bring it back?

Expenses like opening the account, converting INR into CAD, and then back into INR. - compared to taking a travellers cheque and then returning it..
