Hi Friends.

How do I use my laptop in India because the power connection is not the same as in Canada? Do I need to buy something over there?

Are there any free anti-virus software available over the internet?

pls. let me know.

Thanks
Nupur

You will need to get a power cord. (the one that runs from your retangular block to your power supply)
That heavy rectangular block, the adaptor, will work.

Hi Nupur,

All you have to do is go to an electrical shop anywhere in India, and buy a pin converter. Tell the shop guy that you have some electronics from America and you want to use it. Do check your laptop's plug, if it has 3 pins, make sure to buy a converter with 3 pin holes. It doesn't cost more than 25-30 Rupees.

Don't buy a voltage converter (the shopkeeper try to stick that to you), those are expensive and you don't have to worry about it because practically all laptop manufactured in the new millenium (after year 2000), also work on 220/240 volts, which is the output in India. Here we use 110/120 volts. Although, it's a good idea to check it out beforehand, you can do so by looking at the details on the electrical adapter of your laptop.

For an antivirus I suggest use the first link that \"l5a\" has provided, it's for the AVG's free version of antivirus, I use the same and it works great.

Hope this helps, have a safe trip!

Manish.
