Dear fellas,
one can never underestimate the power of the net.
An american and an indian advertisement once showed an empty room with only a laptop with net connection.And the person operating this computer was able to fill it up with everthing right from food to fun!
(Got my point)
the most important aspect here is will it be advantageous bringing in a laptop from india to canada and of tremendous help ?
And what can one do with it?(Practical experiences)

What exactly is your point man?
I really can't stress my eyes to read your caps post.. So come again.. and this time do your Caps Lock a little favor by giving it some well deserved rest.
I think there should be a script to parse the message before submission and convert all Caps into normal letters.

I am not sure how much a laptop costs in India so I don't know if it is more economical to buy it here or in India(also consider customs you might have to pay if bringing it in)
But to answer your real question. It is a bit + to have a laptop no doubt when you land.

It is advantageous. A factory worker with a laptop is more impressive than a factory worker without laptop. It helps to build the corporate image

When you are frustrated after e-mailing your resume for 1001th time, you can relieve your frustration by banging the laptop on the wall
And if you need food, you can sell your laptop and buy a donut and coffee from Tim Hortons
