Hi ,
i have one Q. I am presently in USA on L1 Visa . my I94 is valid till 2005. I am on project here & anytime i will have to go back once my project will get over.
I am applying for canadina immigration & started collecting documents for that. i am here from last 18 months so i needa certificate from FBI, for which i already applied. but like thsi i was in UK-Berkshire-Reading for almost 18 months on project with Valid work permit . Now Q is if i want to get a police clearance certificate from UK , how to get it , i mean what is the procedure? please help .

To obtain a Police Certificate in the UK, contact the local police station [where u were residing] and request a form called "Subject Access". Send this with the 10 pounds fee to the Data Protection Officer of the police force for the area you were resident of. This form is then sent by the police to Scotland Yard and the results are supplied to the individual requesting them within a statutory 40 day time limit.

I guess the "subject access " form ( 3019A) is avaialble online . So according to you i will have to fill that form & then send it to to the Data Protection Officer of the police force for the area i was resident of with fees of 10 pounds , is that correct ?
But i was resident of the County-Berkshire & town was "Reading" and the address u have given is of London .
so where should i send this form ?

I'm sorry. I gave you the wrong address. Best is to call the local constabulary in Reading. They are usually very helpful.

Hi, just to add
you can download the form online and send it to the police station of your area, with 10 pound fees, they will send u an acknowledgment of reciept and a document wther they hold any information on their local database,
the letter will also state that your request has ben forwarded to Scotland yard.
They say it takes around 40 days to get the Police clearance certificate.,
but through my exprience i have recieved the letters under 3 weeks on two occasions.
