Heard it on the John Tesh show in the radio. More than 35% of potential employers are said to be googling the names of their potential hires and checking out their postings or any postings on their names. The advice from the show was to avoid any negative postings on the internet with the real names as they might be held against you as a bad/negative attitude.
Better watch out on what you post with your real name.
The same way it is suggested that you google your potential employers name/bosses names for dirt on them before deciding to join them.
Oh! Oh! Oh! Hope Canadian employers are not checking out CD site in regards to their new hires !.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
Sankaracharya,
You are 100 % right.
In my college alumini website (which is run by a private person), I had blasted our professors for not teaching our course properly and for not hiring professors (we had a total of just 6 architectural staff for 5 years) despite massive central govt. funding. We could not revolt while studying since the institution was an Autonomous one and there was no much co operation among students. Architecture, being a very subjective course, would result in the professors failing the students if such a revolt took place while studying.
Our HOD (Head of the Dept.) found it out and made a slide / OHP projection at a staff meeting, saying that I was speaking such dirt and that this posting would entice the current students not to respect certain faculty.
They were comtemplating some sort of legal action but since i was in Canada at that time, that avenue was not taken. This was told to me by my own cousin who is a lecturer there.
The owner of the site (my classmate) has since then deleted my postings since he wanted to foster a better relationship with the professors and the current students and the alumini . The alumini were then thinking of providing Rs. 1 Lakh as one time scholarships. For that he wanted a better relationship with the professors. Ultimately a Rs. 35,000 one time grant was given for hosting a 3 days seminar / workshop by the students. I contributed Rs. 3500.
The drawbacks were :
1. Could not get any references/ help / Transcripts/ reco's etc...
2. Canot visit college for any alumini meet / Interaction with present students etc..
3. Canot visit the college campus where my cousin stays as the prof's may hire some goonda's to beat me (there is a chance)
The postive points were :
1. I conveyed to the professors their drawbacks , lethargy, in effectiveness etc...
2. May help to improve our dept's standard.
I am proud of what i did since i spoke the truth which no one else had the courage to do so. The loss is worth the gain for the younger generation.
Hiren, Parag Metha etc... Please note.
Moral of the story :
For positive / Happy news : Use your real name
For exposing the dirt / For incidents in which your real name may cause legal actions etc... : Use an Alias.
