I got my landing papers and am planning to land in canada in the last week of September. I work in Troy, MI. So can I land on a sunday and return back to MI on monday after applying for the SIN card.

Also when landing, do I have to declare my properties in US or back in india.

Yes, you can apply your SIN and go back to same day even if you want.

It's not necessory to apply for SIN, while you are not going to use it at this time.

You can return to USA from canadian consulate after finishing all your immigration process.

Don't forget to give an address for PR card.

Yes, it will be in your benefit to show your property of USA and back home.

Can you shed some light how it is to our advantage to declare the properties? Why not apply for SIN? To get SIN takes time. In case if you want to return and start work then you need it.

That is not true.

My PR got approved last week and I am asked to send passports to Buffalo office. Since my medicals expire, I am supposed to land in Canada before 1st week of October.

This is a very short time to move with a family with school going kids. Since I work in Troy, MI, I haven't decided whether to move to Windsor and shuttle to US everday or look out for a new job in Canada and move.
