Hi,

Please advice me:

1) we both are software consultants on separate H1 in US (field IT)

2)Our family landed(by car) on May,2007 before PR expiry date and got stamped in our passports(I am the primary)

3)same week we came back to US

4)We have landing papers expiry date till July,2010

We are planning as mentioned below:

5)Me alone go to canada by car with landing papers around June'2010 before expiry date mentioned on it(Is it OK?)

or

Is there way I can extend the time limit(by any valid reason)?
(As software industry is not doing well)

6)My wife will be working on her H1 in US and move to Canada once
I settle there (may be next year) alongwith my daughter.

7)She may be (landing by car) and requesting immigration officer with same lanind papers(after expire date mentioned on them)

or

8)Do I need to send immigration sponsering papers again to my wife.

9)what is the best way?

10)Just with landing papers can I move(by car) or do I need to get any papers from Canadian embassy.

Regards
dalapati

If you landed in May 2007, how can you have landing papers valid till July 2010? You are already a PR.

Thanks for the reply.

As you said we already have PR stamping in our passports.

The date I was talking about appears on our landing papers the immigration officer pinned to our passports.

After landind we can stay (3 yrs / out of 5 yrs )out of Canada
as per my knowledge(I may be wrong)

I don't have PR cards with me.

What I was assuming that,I can drive to Canada with the PR stamping
and paper in passport.

Please advice me

I am now really curious about this date stamped on your landing papers. Never heard of it in the context of a date stamped that would actually expire after becoming a PR.

Regardless, once you become a PR, your status validity after an extended absence such as yours has to be discussed at the port of entry and worked through the immigration officers' discretion. In other words, you may or may not be able to enter Canada depending on what and how you explain your absence.

Plus, how come you don't have a PR card? Is it with someone else on your behalf or you just don't have one? That would have been sent to you automatically within few weeks after landing in May 2007. That's the first question you may have to tackle during entry, even if can be allowed without PR card by road.

Since you landed after PR Cards became the norm, you will have a tough time at the border, even if you are arriving in a personal car.
Technically, it is still possible to enter without a PR Card.
Refer:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/pr-card/pr-card-faq12.asp

As the above links shows, it is very hard and troublesome not to have PR Card.

Thanks

We have applied PR cards by mail giving my friends address in Toronto.

Actually we have booked our tickets from Canada to India for vacation.

After going there we came to know that we cannot comeback by Air to Canada without PR cards in hand.

So after couple of days we drove back to US and from here we went to India.

I never received my PR card in mail to Toronto address.

In 2007 ,One mail came regarding my wife & daughters PR card photo specifications and
They want to come to Toronto office in person(We never went).

After that my friends family moved to US.

Now at present situation, our GCs are getting delayed here,so I tought
before 3year/out of 5 yr period expiry,I want to drive to Canada with this PR stamping in my passport & part of landing paper pinned.

What do you suggest.

a)Do you want me to visit local Canadian Embassy(New York) and take Advance Parole

b)Drive to Canada with and check my luck at immigration officer
