Dubai: At least 244 Indians in Saudi Arabia died due to unnatural causes between January 1 and August 31 this year, according to data released by the community welfare wing of the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.
This was in addition to the 303 deaths resulting from natural causes, bringing the total number of deaths in the Indian community to 547, according to K. Muraleedharan, second secretary at the embassy.
The leading causes of unnatural deaths are car accidents and suicides while heart attacks are the main cause of natural deaths, Arab News reported.
Suicides were committed mainly due to non-payment of salaries, harassment by employers, or family problems at home.

Absolutely nothing .. I have lived in Saudi Arabia for 4 years and have seen instances where a house maid from India was forced to have sex with a Grand Father, son and Grandson.. She managed to flee to the Indian Consulate complaining and asking for help.. Guess what happened .. She was handed over back to the Saudi Employer for just 300 Riyals.. I didn't know what happened to her after that .. The Indian Embassy which is supposed to protect its citizens acts like a P**p..
The best when it comes to all these issues is the Philippine Embassy.. So the locals don't mess around wz them atall..
In my personal experience, when I used to live in Chennai in late 1970's early 1980's I knew 3 persons (all Engineers)who went there as human beings and came back as body bags, with all there personal savings stolen and reason of death given as accident in the work site. They all lived in an 1 SQ Km radius of my residence.
I still remember a special edition of the Kerala news magazine in English called \"The Week\" keeping a body count in the mid 80's and early 90's.
