Exactly!!
But again, on second thoughts, I don't think they give a damn, as long as the gravy flows into their pockets. I know a family on Paisley Blvd, the lady is from India, her hubby is from Afghanistan, came in under refugee status, has 7 kids, and planning on more. Neither of them works "officially", and the CCTB is more than enough for them to have "fun". :cuss:

I know numerous cases like these in Mississauga.

"Working Joe" has the chance to go beyond $25 per hour (sky is the limit), "Welfare Joe" doesn't.

If our taxes didn't pay for the "Welfare Joe", we would be paying more in taxes due to increased crime and hence increase in police force.

Any welfare system is vulnerable to abuse, but it has its +ve side too.

I remember reader reviews in toronto star/sun about 3 years ago. The lady who won over 2 million dollars was on welfare with 4 kids and had said she bought lottery tickets every week for 2 years and finally the lady luck had found her. The reviews were more negative than positive.
Same goes with family getting visitor visa than a refugee claiming PR.

this article is a pile of bullcrap.
there are no permanent welfare payments like this unless a person is medically classified as disabled.
the other benefits like socialized day care and so on are available under specific conditions only.
also the part about fully paid health care including extended health care and prescription coverage is totally false.

i will say though that Canada's welfare system is one of the most generous in the world right now, second only to that of the non EU countries in scandinavia like switzerland, norway, sweden and finland.
the welfare society is pretty much dead all across the developed world and most of all in the US of A.

From what i have heard welfare only pays around 900$ pm and half of that is in food stamps.. If u have children and Dependants then the payment might be more.

Mind u EI is different from Welfare..

Lol!
This has been discussed multiple times.
Doing jobs is the only way to secure financial freedom (I am talking about highly skilled Indian immigrants).
Welfare is for people who canot work and canot speak good english.
I once tried to be a welfare joe (when I was getting just $ 10 per hour in 2005) and the numbers did not indicate to me that I will do well as a welfare joe.

However, if you have no skills or education, a wife and 3 children (atleast) it pays to be a welfare joe.

Even when working, you have a lot of oppertunities to evade tax. You can incorporate and save tax. You can pay cash to save tax. You can still walk into a food bank and get food etc..
