Meat Products Recalled After Tampering Scare Hits Ontario Plant
Tuesday November 7, 2006
It's a case of a strange find in a strange place. And it's led to a massive recall and a public warning.
Various varieties of meats made at the Maple Leaf Foods plant in Kitchener have been called back by the company and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, after the discovery of some syringe cases on plant property.
The meats involved are:
1/2 Kent Smoked Hams (approx. one kilogram), Best Before Date Jan. 01
125-gram Schneider's Lifestyle Fat Free Cooked Ham Sliced, Best Before Date Dec. 29
125-gram Schneider's Lifestyle Fat Free Cooked Ham Sliced, Best Before Date Jan 04
125-gram Schneider's Lifestyle Fat Free Turkey & Ham Sliced, Best Before Date Dec. 30
125-gram Schneider's Lifestyle Fat Free Smoked Ham, Best Before Date Dec. 29
Balsom admits there was a delay in issuing the recall, but explains there's a good reason for that.
