Book for the bassinet for the infant. It goes very fast with the airlines. It is the biggest help to the mother for extended travel.

Hold on!
You mean one has to ask for the bassinet?
Well I would be travelling for the first time with my little one so if you guys can give me an idea about how the infanys are carried, that would be great.
I mean I want to know about its arrangement in the flight. If one has to look for a bassinet how much does it cost? Is there any other arrangement.
Anyways i am happy to tell you guys that I will be getting his Birth certificate this week so don't have to make other emergency arrangements and the can apply for his passport online too.
Thanks folks

7 years ago we booked the bassinet. This system varies from airline to airline. As suggested it might be first come first serve basis. You can certainly request while booking just like you you request special food.
It is a very convenient place in the plane where bassinets are avilable. More leg room for sure. The infant can sleep confortably in the bassinet right in front of your eyes. We travelled in Austrian, Lufthansa, KLM and Emirates where we used these facilities. It does not cost you anything.
Do ask the agent to request the airline for the bassinet and go early to take it. This will ensure you will have a less stressful journey.

I went last year with my 4 month old daughter in Air Canada direct flight. So you have to tell them that an infant is traveling with you, and u need bassinet and front seat.
Also I wud suggest to take the stroller with u [i dint know that and I brought snuggly to carry the baby as i was going alone with the baby]
You can carry the stroller till the gate of the plane and then airhostess will take it and return to you when u land[u can ask your airlines]
also travel light, keep baby stuff handy like milk, thermos, water, medicines[specially for cold], some toys, and face cloths, wipes etc.
It was so nice of u Smiley to provide me that information. I have applied for passport today. It will take 2 weeks. Then I have to go to the Embassy to get the Visa. I don't know how much time it will take cos I want to leave for India as soon as possible.
