A majority of my international travel was out of Detroit as starting and ending point just because Detroit airport is less than 45 minutes from my home in Windsor.

Lower prices and choices.....I am not sure. I am sure Toronto offers a wide choice as well.

Immigration/Customs were never an issue for me.

From what I gather, one would either travel by car to Detroit and then fly out for the international trip (to India).

If you took the local flight to Detroit (from Toronto), I wonder how one could save at the end of the day ???

If you are travelling through Europe make sure that you have enough transit time. I just came by Jet from DEL-BRU and flight was good. It takes lot of time in transit at most of the European airports for example, it took me around 1.30 hours at Brussels and same at Frankfurt (particularly if airlines are different even though code sharing).

If you are taking multiple airlines chances of loosing luggage increases (even code sharing).

How much do you save after currency conversion and paying for transport to the airport in US?
