Hi
I was a Technical Recruiter in India for a software company before I landed here in Canada in Sep 2006. And I am currently working as Recruiter and part-time as Call Center Agent for a call center in Toronto. I have to do two jobs to make my ends meet. I would should say I was lucky to get my first job paying $12.5ph in a call center, within the first week and first ever interview (non related field) I gave in Canada…and within 6 week I got a in my related field for $1500.

For last three months of my understanding things here, I have observed that there is no scope and growth here in this country as a recruiter… I was thinking of changing my professions as Occupation therapy as I use to practice Reiki and Pranic Healing and Reflexology back home. Can anyone help or advice me as to how is the career scope as employee and also to start my own business…
I am ready to undergo traning and studies that are required.

Appreciate your feedback and suggestions.

Thanks
Ketan

Ketan,

I guess we have few members who are recruiters and they may guide you properly, if they are not scared by the competition. Personally I believe that there should be good chances for a recruiter here. You are in that industry you know better. However even if you just hire one employee for a large company, you can get a full months salary.

To study any other occupation, just visit any of the university website and they should have pages on career scopes, training required etc.

Knpatel,

I agree with GG, as far as I understand there are jobs out there for Recruiters. Another option for someone with your background could be Human Resources. My field is Employment Counselling, which is also a natural transition for someone with a Recruiting background (or Vice Versa).

Check out http://www.osot.on.ca/eng/default.asp for how to become a Licensed Occupational Therapist in Ontario. I am not sure if Reiki comes under this title.

good luck.

KN Patel,

To become a Occupational Therapist, you have to get admission in a 4 years degree in a university.
