We have newly relocated to Canada from India . The burners here are different and I am unable to cook proper rotis as fire is missing here .
I wish to know from others , whats the workaround for this to prepare rotis or 'fulkas ' on electric burners .
Also what are the uses of the oven for vegetarian dishes as I have never used one in India .
Any suggestions and advices are welcome.
Thanks .

The oven can be used for making pizza, heating frozen samosas and french fries, preparing cookies and cake, etc. Also you can prepare yogurt by keeping oven light on to create a warm space.

What you are missing is "iron grill". You can buy one from any departmental store.

Cooking on an electric stove was a big adjustment for me...and one I never quite mastered. So the first thing I made sure of was to get a gas cooker when we bought our first home.
As for roti's, I don't have a tuwaa, I just use a flat frying pan and it works just as well, and yes my rotis puff up just the same as they would on an iron grill. I've also recent switched from white flour to whole wheat and find there is a no difference in taste or texture. The ataa might be a tad bit tougher but nothing a little water can't correct.

I use a Tawa which you can buy from most indian grocery stores. You can use a pona (or dish towel) to help your roti raise up, without needing to use a separate grill.
I never understood the diff between gas and electric stoves both can make rotis well !
