Wal-Mart is cost effective and good store for lot of things and I think everybody in North America goes to Wal-Mart. I noticed sometimes that lot of people buy clothes, shoes or perfumes for Wal-Mart. I think that Walmart is not the right place or cheaper place for those items. But it seems those people never do research or try to give a look on other branded stores.
In general Walmart shirts cost $25.00 but here in Calgary if you go to Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, Banana Republic and other brands outlets you can get better shirt in $30-35 in sale/clearance. I got Tommy Hilfiger shirt in $31.00. Same jackets and other stuff if go at sale time they are quite cheaper. Some shoes warehouses have branded shoes in cheaper price. Like these days branded winter shoes are on clearance mostly everywhere.
Walmart can be good deal but if a person does little research he can get better deal in same price.
Wal-Mart's "George' clothing brand is actually a UK based company that makes very good quality clothing for men, women and kids and sells under the brand name "Next" in the UK. Whenever I go to the UK, I always make a point of going into Next to get something for my hubby as they do great mens shirts and ties and trousers as well as the latest stuff for women. It's not exactly designer clothing, but quality, and the brand name represents that image in the UK...so when I found out that "George" is actually "Next" clothing, I was thinking I would go check it out as the quality must be the same - has anyone had any experience with the "George" brand? I've not had a chance to check it out yet.
Also, Winners is another great place to pick up designer clothing at bargain prices. They also do good stuff for the home - and it's usually cheaper than Home Sense and Pier 1.

George clothing is really good. I really like their stuff.
Talking about UK, I love Marks & Spencer. They are excellent for wollens and undergarments. Unfortunately they dont have any outlets in North America. I was told at one time they did have stores in Canada but for some reason exited the market.
